shrimp will catch dogfish, surf perch, halibut, blackfish, red(puppy)drum, croaker, sea trout, sunfish, humpback(pink) salmon, pompano, snakehead, kokanee(landlocked sockeye) salmon, chum(dog) salmon, largemouth and speckled(sea) trout/weakfish just about inshore you fish.

The Chasebaits MudBug can be fished in a number of different ways; let it sit on the bottom in a defensive position, allowing the floating claws and vibrating legs to do the work, or slow crawl or twitch it over your favorite structure and its thumping tail will imitate a fleeing crawdad.

The most common saltwater fish you'd catch with shrimp would be anything that feeds along the bottom. The most common freshwater fish you'd catch with shrimp would be catfish. You can also use live shrimp to catch bass or other larger fish but I generally use it in saltwater, and it'll catch pretty much anything.

How far out are surf perch?

Seven feet or longer rods are my preference for both casting distance and a better ability to raise the line up out of breaking waves. Good sensitivity is a bonus as surfperch can peck and nibble at baits. Most high modulus graphite rods are more than adequate.
