What line do you use for paddle tail swimbaits?

Line – Fluorocarbon is the most popular line choice for swimbaits. Use the heaviest you can get away with based on water clarity. Usually, 12- to 17-pound test will work for mid-sized swimbaits. For jumbo baits, some anglers use 20- to 25-pound-test fluorocarbon or monofilament.

The best aspect of a paddle tail swimbait is that it can be fished however you please. You can slow roll the bait on the bottom, pop the bait as you reel it in, and even burn the bait across the top of the water in shallow areas. A paddle tail swimbait is very versatile, but works best when slow rolled near the bottom.

How do you attract tarpon?

All Tarpon will take dead baits, such as a Mullet head or half Mullet, fished patiently on bottom. For trolling or surfcasting with heavier gear, large jigs, spoons and lipped plugs get the call. Generally, casters enjoy the most success with swimming plugs, jerk plugs and surface plugs.
